Our Team
Mike Matalone, Founder/President
With more than two decades experience as a successful entrepreneur and human capital management consultant, Mike has authored dozens of articles on the importance of having the right people in the right jobs as a fundamental driver of business growth and profitability. An award-winning speaker, Mike has delivered more than 200 workshops and presentations to business groups throughout the US, Canada and the U.K. Prior to the founding of Excelsior, Mike spent five years as an executive coach and facilitator for TEC/Vistage International, the world’s largest CEO membership organization, and was the founder and CEO of three companies. He also held senior level roles in companies across a variety of industries. He is currently at work on a new book based on his popular workshop presentation “The Talent Gap – People Potential Profits”
Kevin Shane, Executive Vice President Client Services
With over 30 years of management experience and 18 years in executive Human Resource roles, Kevin has proven success developing and implementing strategies and processes to improve leadership bench strength, organizational effectiveness and business performance. His focus is on designing, leading and executing comprehensive human capital initiatives to support business strategy. He has held executive Human Resource positions at Transamerica Finance Corporation, First Nationwide Mortgage Corporation, The Travelers Insurance Companies, USF&G, and Paradigm Alliance Group. In addition to financial services, he has consulted for government, manufacturing and non-profit organizations. Kevin has a Masters Degree from the University of Hartford in Organizational Behavior and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Villanova University. He is on the Program Committee of the Human Resource Leadership Forum, a member of the National Association of Business Owners and Entrepreneurs, a member of Human Resource Strategy and People, and a certified International Mediator.
Debra Matalone, Vice President MPO Personality Assessments
Over two decades of expertise in sales management and organizational development. Debra’s expertise includes exceptional leadership skills exemplified by a stellar history creating and managing highly productive sales teams with a focused and strategic approach towards consistently exceeding revenue objectives. The foundation for her success is in her in-depth understanding with the application of human behavioral science strategies and techniques. She brings to Excelsior; expertise with a variety of Psychometric tools includes The Predictive Index, The OAD and The MPO. She utilizes this knowledge to help our clients to hire, develop, manage and retain highly effective teams.
James Moore, Recruiting Manager
James has been with Excelsior for almost 2 years and brings over 13 years of professional recruiting expertise across a wide array of industries and roles from staff to executive level roles. James is in charge of Excelsior’s Talent Acquisition Services including all sourcing, screening, selection and on-boarding of all candidates – both internally and for our clients. He is also an expert in various Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) designed to expedite the recruiting process. James has a degree is Marketing & Economics from the University of Miami.
Sue Herold, Finance Manager
Sue has been with Excelsior since December 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ohio State University. Before joining Excelsior, Sue owned her own Small Business Accounting firm working closely with assisting small business owners in setting up and managing their finances. Prior to starting her own business, she spent 2 years as an Auditor at Arthur Andersen and 3 years at a boutique CPA firm as a Staff Accountant.
Catherine Cobos, Recruiter
Catharine graduated with a B.S. degree from James Madison University and brings over 5 years of professional experience in Business, Human Resources and recruiting expertise. Catherine is responsible for sourcing and recruiting candidates for our clients. She worked for Excelsior when we first started out and was instrumental in helping to develop our unique recruitment process and methodology that is applied across all fields and industries and contributes to a shorter recruitment period and better qualified employees.
