The Performance Profile™ is an objective, logical and scientific approach to defining exactly what is required in a job.  It goes beyond simple job duties.  The Performance Profile™ includes the job tasks broken down by category, the knowledge and skills for those tasks, the ideal and/or required behavioral traits (attention to detail, assertiveness, communication style, etc.), the estimated % of time doing those tasks and most important, the results or how success will be defined.  When used as an interview tool, it will help identify if:

  1. The candidate has done these tasks before
  2. They possess the required knowledge and skills
  3. They have the “natural” behavioral traits or if they will have to modify/adjust their behavior (this identifies how consistent and enjoyable the job will be to them)
  4. They have created the desired results before which is one of the best predictors if they can do it again
  5. They “Want” to do the job (estimated % of time) which is very different than “Can” they do the job!

This helps us to identify precisely what their strengths and weaknesses are in their ability to consistently execute the responsibilities of the role, where additional training and coaching is needed if you hire them, how they will “fit” in with your existing team and how they objectively compare to other candidates.  With this knowledge, your hiring decisions go from being a subjective “I like this person” approach to a highly objective, logical, and scientific approach to better ensure you hire the right person – every time!
